Professional Information
Dr. Christopher T. Robertson is a tenured Associate Professor of Health and Exercise Sciences and creator of the Sport Science Decision Lab, a six-course integrated pipeline that trains students to work like sport scientists from data literacy through professional placement. The Lab is built on a Decision Cycle framework (Query, Interpret, Decide, Justify) with AI tools integrated as analytical labor partners across every course. Students encounter the same database, the same reasoning framework, and the same professional role structure throughout the sequence. The only thing that changes is the stakes.
Dr. Robertson's academic training bridges neuroscience and applied analytics. He earned his PhD in Human Performance and Neuroscience, his MS in Kinesiology (Motor Control emphasis), and his BS in Exercise Science at Indiana University-Bloomington. He has since completed a Master of Applied Business Analytics and is pursuing an MBA, both through JU's Davis College of Business and Technology. His MABA capstone analyzing emergency department operations using real hospital data became the structural blueprint for the Decision Lab's data infrastructure.
Dr. Robertson began his career as a post-doctoral Research Health Scientist with the Department of Veterans Affairs at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System's Bone and Joint Research Clinic, working in conjunction with Stanford University School of Medicine and Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences. He transferred to the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL, where he worked at the Brain Rehabilitation Research Center with the University of Florida College of Health and Health Professions studying stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation science.
At ½ñÈÕ´ó¹Ï, Dr. Robertson built the kinesiology program from startup to the second-largest major on campus, growing enrollment 65%, expanding faculty from 5 to 15, and securing over $1M in funding and equipment. He established five specialized laboratories and led a $680K multi-organizational partnership involving the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Duval County public schools to support youth sports injury prevention and care.
Dr. Robertson is published in motor control, neuroscience, perception and cognition, stroke rehabilitation, and postural stability. His current work focuses on sport science analytics, AI-integrated competency-based pedagogy, and the neuromechanical basis of athletic performance.
